Cotton and wool are the main materials in Afghanistan. Women wear the chadri, which covers the women from head to toe, with 2 holes forthe eyes. The chadri is made out of cotton and comes in colors of brown, blue, and black. The young girls go bareheaded, the women wearlong scarves around the head, which come in different colors. When women wear a white headscarf it shows that they are married.

The men wear a thigh-length shirt with a belt around the waist and a dress-like cloth. The dress-like cloth is like a cloak and sometimes comes in stripes.

In the city, it is common that the adults and children wear toe- open sandals. There are many headgears, such as the large turban, the astrakhan hats, woolen knitted hats, and large fur hats. In the winte , the people wear thick, woolen hand-knitted stockings with boots.

The Taliban men insisted men wear baggy trousers. In Afghanistan, the Taliban are trying to make the wearing of the ''Shalwar Kadiz'' complusory for all males. This is actually a combination of a long shirt over baggy pantaloons.

The Taliban and the Women

The Taliban doesn't let the women in Afghanistan show their faces because they say the women are tempting the men. The women had no just rights. The women are not allowed to go to school or go to the movies. If the women go out they go in a special bus with tinted windows.
