Objectives
Students learn about Lois Duncan's life and work
Students read about and choose a fictional book that they would like to read.
Students summarize and analyze Lois Duncan's life in order to decide what effect it might have on her and what they think she will write next, non-fiction or fiction.
Background
This activity is primarily for reluctant readers. Through study of Lois Duncan's fascinating life and work, students read, formulate conclusions, and write about her life. They choose one of her books that they would like to read. During an extended activity, the student may actually read the book.
Time Frame
30 - 45 minutes

Web Quest Instructions
Read the Introduction and answer questions. If reading or visiting a web site is required, mouse click on the name of the site, which will be in blue print. In order to return to the web quest from the site, mouse click on the "back" arrow in the upper left hand corner. Then proceed to the next question.

Extension and Follow-up Activities
Students find a Lois Duncan book in the library, borrow it and read it.
Related Internet Activities
Read her non-fiction book Who Killed My Daughter, read the Arquette Family Web Site, read the related links at the bottom of the screen, including the update bulletins, and try to solve the murder mystery. The family has offered a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the murderer.
