More Excel Practice
Generating a List
Open the Excel
Practice Workbook. Normally, you wouldn't open a file from the
Internet without scanning it for viruses but we know the source. Save the
worksheet as a Excel Microsoft Workbook. You can go back and forth
between this window and the Excel workbook.
In this lesson we will:
Practice the basics used
in creating a Bingo Board
Change text orientation
Sort a list
Auto format the rows/columns
Copy/paste data
Format page setup
Text orientation

Click on the <vocabulary
lists> tab
-
Add a few more color names
to column A
-
Click on the 1 in Row 1.
This highlights the entire row.

Go
to <Format> <Cells>. Click on the <Alignment> tab.
Change the orientaion to 90 degrees and center horizontally. <OK>.

Sorting
-
Click on the A in column A.
This highlights the entire column.

Go to <Data> <Sort>.
Check <Header row> <OK>. The colors have now been alphabetized.

Add another color at the bottom
of the list and re-sort.
Auto Formatting Rows and
Columns
-
Highlight the entire sheet to
apply text formatting. HOW

Increase the font size to 14

Go to <Format> <Row> <Autofit>

Go to <Format> <Column>
<Autofit>
Copy/paste data

Highlight column A. HOW

Go to <Edit> <Copy>.
Highlight Column B.

Go to <Edit> <Paste>
( <Control V> is the short cut keystroke)

Practice pasting in columns
C through G. You need not recopy each time. You only have to
use the paste command.
Page Setup - Scaling
and Printing Gridlines

Click on the <Print Preview
Button (magnifying glass)>. Notice that there will be more than one
page printed. There is one too many columns to fit on a page.
I want only one page. There are two options. Print landscape
or scale it to fit on 1 page. Choose the scaling option by going
to <Setup> <Page>

Click on <Sheet> tab.
Check print <gridlines>
Brainstorm, there must be several times that
you need to create short lists during the school year.
